An exhibition of Frances Kearney’s large format colour photographs are currently on show at University of Hertfordshire galleries until 12 July. Placing figures (mostly young girls) within impeccably framed, post-industrial, landscapes, Kearney reveals her interest in nature and its depicition in art in this thought-provoking series. Largely taken in East Anglia, the pictures show Kearney’s belief that we are gradually becoming disconnected to the outdoors as successive generations lead more interior-based lives.
