Calling all environmentally conscious photographers and filmmakers: you have until 18 April to enter this year’s Environmental Photographer of the Year.
Launched in 2007 by the Chartered Institution of Water and Environmental Management (CIWEM), and sponsored by Atkins, the competition aims to promote an understanding of global environmental and social issues such as climate change, sustainable development, biodiversity and human rights. There’s a prize fund of £6,000, and shortlisted images will be displayed at the Royal Geographical Society, London, in June 2016, before touring forest venues across the UK, including Grizedale Forest in Cumbria.
This year there are three specific themes to focus the entries: the Built Environment; the Changing Climate; and People, Nature and Economy.
Environmental Photographer of the Year is free to enter, and open to photographers of all ages, nationalities and abilities. You can submit up to 10 images, which must have been taken (and films made) since 1 January 2015; the competition encourages entries that are creative, resonant, original and beautiful.
