OS releases maps with free digital download

Starting with the launch of 62 maps in the OS Explorer OL range, Ordnance Survey is releasing new versions of its paper maps, which will include a digital download of the map sheet. Promising the same level of detail as the paper maps, the mobile version is GPS enabled with route planning and recording built in. The digital maps work with Ordnance Survey’s own smartphone app, which is free to download and available for iOS and Android devices.

The first set of new-generation maps is available now and covers Britain’s national parks and areas of outstanding natural beauty in the popular OS Explorer 1:25,000 scale. The remaining Explorer maps will be released later in 2015 and the Landranger 1:50,000 maps will follow in 2016.
