James Grant’s favourite place to be is at the top of a mountain. The Derbyshire-born landscape photographer is a regular in OP thanks to his fabulous pictures taken in locations such as the Peak District, Eryri (Snowdonia) and the Scottish Highlands and Islands.

In our September issue (OP 321) he discusses his love of the outdoors, how he made the decision to go pro nearly 10 years ago, and the creative and physical challenges of photographing in remote places.

‘I’ve always said that composition comes top,’ says James. ‘It’s the biggest foundation of a photo, along with light and technical know-how. And I want to achieve all three’.
