Wildflower Photographer of the Year

The winners of the inaugural Wildflower Photographer of the Year competition have been announced.

Run by the Eden Project in partnership with the Canary Wharf Group, the competition attracted hundreds of entries reflecting the variety, beauty and fragility of the UK’s wildflower habitats to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the National Wildflower Centre.

Justin Minns won the professional category with his photograph of an Essex woodland carpeted with wild garlic, while Damien Walmsley’s image of a poppy field in Kinver, Staffordshire, came top in the amateur category. The Young People’s winner was M Stanway for their beautiful photograph of Cornish heather.

The competition winners are on display at the Eden Project in Cornwall, as part of the Wildflower of the Year exhibition which runs until February.
